Heder discusses her filmmaking process with previous Vanguard Award winner Radha Blank and Thompson with Oscar-nominated filmmaker Dee Rees. Every year, the Sundance Institute Vanguard Award is bestowed upon artists or industry figures who define the innovation, originality, and independent spirit upon which the Institute was founded in 1981.
