Soil2Souls is rooted in cultural storytelling that preserves and honors intergenerational knowledge rooted in South Memphis while exploring the often misrepresented paradigm of Black life in the South. This film documents how memories of love, legacy and land are carried through Southern foodways. Centering resident voices through local farmers, elders, cooks, and families creates a living archive, strengthening our cultural identity and belonging. Sharing the stories of our neighbors and ancestors is an act of resistance, creating impact beyond the screen. Despite erasure attempts, Soil2Souls reconnects generations to land and each other, fueling collective action towards food sovereignty and self-governance.
