Iman June Blackwell is a Malay-American film director, producer, writer, and composer with a mission to use digital media as an agent for environmental justice and the visibility of marginalized communities. She was born and raised in Fayetteville, Arkansas and graduated from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service with a degree in International Affairs and Film and Media Studies.
In 2014, she was a regional finalist for the International Youth Silent Film Festival. She's worked at National Geographic Unscripted Series, FX Networks, and the DC Environmental Film Festival. She now works full-time as a Post-Production Coordinator for 20th Television and an independent director, screenwriter, and composer. Her short documentary Sharps & Flats premiered at the 2025 Bentonville Film Festival.
