About this submission

Rich Port is a sample chapter of a Young Adult Fiction Novel that I am working on based on my true coming of age. As a filmmaker(director/writer) I have been working to adapt each of my chapters into short films. I am currently in post production on another of these story adaptations.

Elaine Del Valle is a Brownsville, Brooklyn-bred Puerto Rican multi-hyphenate filmmaker. Elaine won the HBO Latinx short film director award, SXSW Audience Award, Seriesfest Caz Matthews award, and was featured in the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP) Director showcase. Elaine is a Warnermedia 150 Artist whose films have been supported by the Sundance Institute, Knight Foundation, and Fractured Atlas. As a WRITER/DIRECTOR, her short films, Me 3.769 and Princess Cut went on to air on HBOmax. Her most recent project, Brownsville Bred, premiered at SXSW 2022, ultimately winning the audience award. Elaine is a Lynn Shelton award finalist and two-time Imagen Impact award nominee. She also received honorable mention as Best Director in a drama pilot at Seriesfest 2022. Redefine Magazine and Miami New Times named her a "Filmmaker to Watch". Ad Age called her short documentary, Tagged (filmed entirely on a mobile phone), "compelling." While Elaine loves expressing emotion through her camera, she's most proud of being referred to as an "actor's director." Her many years as an ACTOR (trained by Wynn Handman at New York City's Carnegie Hall) and her passion for bringing marginalized voices to entertainment led her to create her autobiographical one-woman stage play Brownsville Bred. The New York Times feature story on Brownsville Bred was titled "From Girlhood Trials To Onstage Triumph." Empowered and fulfilled by the experience, Elaine would continue to act while writing, directing, and producing content representative of her Urban Latina experience. Elaine's most recent acting roles are as a recurring guest star in the ABC series Queens and Fox's The Resident. As a WRITER/CREATOR, Elaine's original drama pilot, The System, landed a pilot order with CBS and Sutton Street Productions (Jane The Virgin). Elaine is a CSA casting director. Elaine has cast talented actors in hundreds of projects under her banner company, Del Valle Productions & Casting, and PRODUCED over 50 film titles. Elaine was the first person to ever license an interstitial series to HBO. Her films have screened at top-tier festivals, including Sundance, Hollyshorts, Urbanworld, SXSW, Palm Springs Shortsfest, Bentonville, Seriesfest, etc. Elaine regularly lectures at Universities, including Emerson College and UMass Amherst, and spends her free time speaking at youth arts programs in underserved communities...including the one created by her daughter in Brownsville, Brooklyn. When asked of her greatest accomplishments, she includes affording her daughter's college education. Affiliations: WGA, AWD, NYWIFT, NALIP, CSA, SAG, AEA, AWA, Hue You Know Elaine Del Valle the Actor more...
