This is excerpted from SEED, an in-production feature film, of which I am the writer-director-editor. The majority of the film’s runtime, including this portion, depicts a dream manifesting in the central character’s sleeping mind. Organicist neuroscience relegates dreams to the status of mental detritus, but dismissing this primal human experience fails to account for dreams’ disruptive power, troubling emotional potency borne far into waking. Every night, fathomless views into the nature of fear, desire, identity, object-relation! SEED explores the radical political potential to be found in the split rending every human being: a valley between conscious experience and unconscious emergence.
