About this submission
A crew of young Hispanic filmmakers meet with a strange old man who is trapped in time, with the goal of collecting his wisdoms. RECUERDO (which had its US premiere at Cinema On The Bayou) is a docufiction with realist-magic undertones that take us on a trip through Central America's intense history.
The film features Panamanian actor Carlos Serrano (The Suicide Squad, 2021), recounting his memories of the U.S. invasion of Panama, a dark period that unfortunately comes back to mind, with the mounting tensions between America and Panama. We then explore scenes from a more and more distant past.
