In this film "Piscator of Vypin," I wanted to capture the entire routine of the piscators (fishermen) of Vypin, a small island located in Kerala, India. I was amazed as well as awestruck by their struggle, as I've centered my lens on the fishermen to transform an abstract industry into a deeply human story of endurance. By showcasing the rhythmic use of the Chinese fishing nets, the film illustrates a life governed by nature’s heartbeat rather than a clock. The choice of subject allows me to honor the quiet dignity of men who have spent decades braving the elements.
