My father immigrated to Arkansas from Mexico at 14 because my grandmother wanted a better life for him and his siblings. Our story is not unique; the Latin American diaspora is the second-largest in the world. As more marginalized communities seek new opportunities abroad, or must flee impossible situations, many governments are tightening immigration policies, and anti-immigrant sentiment is rising. Through this documentary, I aim to explore how these negative perceptions can be reversed and whether humanizing the stories of individuals who uproot their lives for a new beginning can foster greater empathy and understanding across borders.
