Arabella Sharkey is a writer and director based in New York. Born in London and raised in Hong Kong, she is half British and half Taiwanese. Her international upbringing deeply shapes her storytelling voice—one that blends cultural nuance with emotional honesty. She gravitates toward magical realism, often mixing it with character-driven drama and elements of psychological thriller. Arabella is drawn to stories that blur the line between reality and imagination, using metaphor to explore emotion, identity, and social issues. Her short films have screened at a range of film festivals, including the Beverly Hills Film Festival, New York Shorts International Film Festival, Tokyo International Short Film Festival, and Big Apple Film Festival. In 2023, she received the Bronze Award at the Hollywood Independent Filmmaker Awards & Festival, and two of her shorts screened at AMC Times Square in New York City. Arabella recently graduated with a BFA in Film & Television Production from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. She has interned at Warner Bros. (The Wolper Organization), Full Picture, and Partizan, gaining hands-on experience across creative development, branded content, and commercial production.
