In 2025 I applied for unemployment benefits for the first time. After struggling for weeks to get in touch with the Department of Labor regarding my application, I was struck by how many other New York twenty-somethings shared my frustrations. What was initially a lonely and embarrassing experience became a point of connection with other young New Yorkers who had encountered the same structural apathy during their own career lows. At the heart of this short is a portrait of the impostor syndrome lurking around every corner of what we've all been told is the best decade of our lives.
