About this Video
(mourning) affirmations began with the intention of making a critical commentary on the post-pandemic obsession with self-help culture.
I approached the film with distance, observing how these practices often mirrored cult-like obedience. But as I was working on the idea, the story started enchanting me into relating a lot to the character and the film gradually became a site for resurficing incidents and feelings I have left unresolved.
Through this project, I want to reclaim space for queer stories that don’t follow clean arcs of trauma or triumph, but instead leave room for uncertainty, contradiction, and unresolved emotions.
