I chose to tell this story because I wanted to create a space for the children that were affected by war. I wanted to create a conversation about how in children's minds, the violence lingers, reshaping memory, identity, and childhood. As a Ukrainian-born filmmaker, in recent years, I have seen the horrors of children who were stripped of their innocence and childhoods. Children with the eyes and hearts that have experiences the losses most people could not imagine. I have witnessed the ignorance that they are met with, and for me it is a marker of the downfall of society.
