Lemon Sorbet follows a silent mime who struggles to communicate with a security guard about an urgent bank robbery because no one takes him seriously. Though whimsically approached, the film is about a theme many people can relate to: how it feels to be misunderstood and dismissed as unimportant, and the magic of being seen for who we truly are. This is both a universal human experience and a deeply disabled one. Too often, disabled people are infantilized, ignored, or told our stories and voices don’t belong—Just like the mime in Lemon Sorbet, a character written to be deeply universal.
