This film is a love letter to my hometown friends, and it is drawn from my own girlhood growing up and coming of age on Lake St. Clair, Michigan.
Lake St. Clair centers on a final summer sleepover because my own memories of these moments feel liminal. The story follows the feelings I had at seventeen: the tenderness of self discovery, the grief of growing up, the confusion of my own visual disability and religious reckoning, the beauty of friendship, and the bittersweet ache to hold onto the good things in life before everything changes.
