I chose to tell this story because I’ve always been struck by how easily certain behaviors are normalized. Growing up in Argentina, I witnessed how gestures framed as polite, romantic, or harmless could carry a very different weight depending on who experiences them.
With Just Being Nice, I wanted to explore that quiet imbalance, the tension that emerges not from violence, but from presence and proximity. As a male filmmaker, I felt compelled to confront a perspective I don’t personally inhabit, and to translate that discomfort through atmosphere rather than explanation.
