About this submission

Two strangers in a laundromat find themselves drawn together after a man beats up a faulty dryer.

Jammed is a story inspired by my mother after returning home one day from a reunion gathering with her ex-colleagues. They were stating how her career could’ve flourished if she hadn’t retired early to care of my siblings and I.

Questioning how life would've been like being financially independent, Jammed was supposed to be a feminist perspective to having ambition and combating social responsibility. However, Jammed explores this further on a universal level and how nuance this struggle is especially in Asian communities.
