This film was influenced by my lived experience and the haunting reality of the Ahmaud Arbery case. I’ve felt fear while running, experienced police harassment, and witnessed friends being roughed up unjustly. This trauma, compounded by societal violence against Black bodies, deeply affects Black mental health. Through Malcolm King’s psychological struggle, I aim to highlight how these experiences shape Black men. Many are conditioned to neglect emotional wellness, focusing solely on protection and provision. I believe Morehouse is a haven where Black men can break these expectations and express themselves fully.
