I was inspired by my grandfather’s dementia and the promises I made to him. He used to say he’d rather die than end up in a nursing home or forget his children. When that time came, none of us could honor what he’d once asked. That experience left me wondering: if you could see your loved ones as they once were, would you take it? Would you stay there? What if you could still ask for their advice? Would their words still mean the same? That longing sits at the heart of this story.
