Creator
Nishanth R. was born in Coimbatore, India, and raised in the nearby metropolis of Chennai. While attending a high school in Chennai, he authored and published a historical fiction novel titled 'The Fated Sunset', as well as wrote and directed a play. He then decided to make the leap to the United States for college, studying Film/TV Production and Philosophy at the renowned Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
He now balances an MFA education in Screenwriting at California State University, Northridge with his job as a Content Strategist and Director for the independent production company Media RED, where he spearheads the development of an international slate of film and TV projects such as the feature documentary 'Food 2050' (narrated by Viola Davis).
Nishanth's filmmaking and screenwriting efforts have received acclaim – from his university thesis film 'Phil Gunderson Teaches Screenwriting' garnering multiple awards and being selected to air on PBS, to his murder-mystery feature script 'The Last Supper' winning the Grand Prize in the prestigious ScreenCraft Pitch Competition.
Nishanth's work is distinguished by small-scale, personal stories that explore sweeping political and philosophical themes, often with a satirical edge. more...
