The podcast has shifted from a tool for learning and tows the line of entertainment, of friendship, and acts as a political weapon in America. They are a performance; just as an audience member can feel connected or moved by the physicality seen on stage, a similar familiarity emerges online, albeit parasocial. And there’s a turning point where the performances are so compelling, how factual the information is no longer matters. It is intensely gendered, and real-world consequences follow. I staged this short as a satirical live-film experiment to highlight how ridiculous that is. I am not your friend.
