About this Video

In the wake of their friend’s sudden death, three teenage girls, Huia, Oli and Emma,
reunite in rural Wairarapa, New Zealand. The girls come together to scatter a quarter of their friends' ashes. What begins as a quiet, tender and lively reunion by sharing one last drink as a group of four, it spirals into a painful clash of emotions as guilt and blame surface when they confront what they’re there to do. In the fallout of their confrontation, they find a fragile sense of unity and the strength to release the ashes together.

Kia ora,

I’m Molly Doyle, a director, producer and writer based in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand.

My work is rooted in storytelling that feels grounded, emotionally honest, and purposeful. As both an artist and environmentalist, I’m drawn to projects that hold a strong kaupapa. Whether I’m developing narrative film, documentary, or working collaboratively across mediums, I’m interested in stories that shift perspective, create impact, and offer something meaningful to the world.

I founded Molly Doyle Films in 2018 as a way to create and produce work that felt relevant, independent, and connected to Aotearoa. Over the years, it has evolved from a solo operation into a wider network of filmmakers, producers, and creatives who share a commitment to telling strong, purposeful stories. We focus on work that’s grounded in place, aligned with clear kaupapa, and made with integrity, whether in narrative film, documentary, or collaborative community-led projects.
