My parents were immigrants to different countries when they started a long-distance relationship. While still married, I have watched them grow distant over the years. And yet, when they recount the story of their romance, both light up at the wonder of knowing another person--their laugh, smile, and soul--before ever meeting face to face. I wanted to capture the shared delusion of blooming love in the face of hardship. Perhaps a small part of me thought making the film might unite my parents again in some small way.
