Absurdity is often overlooked as a vehicle for communicating cultural testimonies and experiences: I believe that meaningfully provocative and experimental elements in a narrative can drive an empathetic competence via affect. Especially in underrepresented media, I have firm faith in its potency. This story is a Latine-adaptation of Peter Schaffer's "Equus," taking my queer interpretation of the play as a means of portraying generational trauma, family secrecy, and the sometimes difficult compatibility of normative social/cultural identity with aspects such as queerness. Utilizing the play's vivid imagery, as well as the integration of surrealism, delivers a distinct look into queer ontology.
