About this submission

A brief docu-short looking at the disjointed, raw, yet real small-talk we usually take for granted when visiting home to loved ones... especially in your early 20s. This is a typical, annual conversation I have with my Ma while visiting home. We're close, so it goes on for a while. It's long-winded, repetitive, and my mom inevitably nitpicks the world around her... which she'd say "all moms should do." When I noticed a pattern/structure to our talks, I decided to film it for an hour and edit it down to three distinct acts: "The Usual..." "The Before..." & "The Beyond..."
