Through my senior thesis film, Han, I wanted to not only summarize my college experience while living abroad (as a Korean born in the US, but grew up mostly in South Korea) in a narrative form, but also attempt to empathize with pioneering Korean and Korean American figures who made art while living abroad. Through my short film, my hope is to raise awareness for the audience members about the 20th century’s Korean immigration history, but also to generate meaningful conversations about those who left their homeland in pursuit of an ambitious dream.
