Finding Espee uncovers the aftermath of surviving a school shooting through the lens of first-generation American Esperanca Woei. On Valentine’s Day in 2018, she experienced the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting at 14 years old. This documentary explores how Esperanca continues to cope with post traumatic stress disorder as she recounts the event with her brother for the first time. Esperanca and I met on the school bus in the third grade. She had just moved to the United States and we became inseparable best friends. I want to honor her story through this film.
