For my year-long introduction to documentary filmmaking class we were assigned to film a portrait project of a stranger of our choosing. As I was thinking about who I wanted the stranger to be, I walked by a Greek Orthodox church. It was near the end of their 3 hour service when I walked in, very aware that I was completely out of my element as the only asian woman there, and yet I was captivated by this culture, language, and religion which I did not understand. I chose Father Vassilios, the priest.
