About this Video
The world through the lens of a child’s imagination.
This experimental short film follows a spirited young girl who undergoes new and inconvenient situations. As she seeks comfort, the young girl turns to her favorite doll as a means of coping. She uses her deep imagination to build a familiar world that mirrors her own emotions and aspirations. The film combines archival footage from the director’s childhood with animation sequences to show a world from the eyes of a child.

I’m Maysoon Abdelghany, a 23-year-old filmmaker and media designer whose work merges analog textures with contemporary digital editing. After graduating in 2025 with a bachelor’s in Applied Arts, I’ve been developing a visual language rooted in nostalgia, emotional authenticity, and experimental storytelling.
My films have screened internationally at festivals including Kasseler Dokfest (Germany), the Ismailia International Film Festival (Egypt), and the Oak Cliff Film Festival (USA), which has encouraged me to further explore mixed-media narratives on a professional level.
Recently, I began working independently as a film editor and mixed-media animator, aiming to build a career that bridges artistic experimentation with meaningful, story-driven filmmaking. Ultimately, my goal is to create work that resonates emotionally, pushes the boundaries of hybrid cinema, and contributes to a more diverse visual landscape.
