About this Video

So much of our concept of “the future” revolves around heteronormative reproduction. Politicians promise a better tomorrow for “the children,” parents find legacy through offspring, and even children rehearse parenthood with dolls. By thirteen, the message felt unmistakable: having children was the key to happiness, security, and belonging. This realization became terrifying as I grew into my queerness. I began to fear how my sexuality might exclude me from this supposedly universal path to futurity. This project reflects the quiet horror a queer person can feel when facing medical, economic, and reproductive systems never designed with them in mind.
