Upon his return from the military, my dad struggled to adjust, and the struggle regularly manifested in violent ways. Now, after six years, therapy and faith in God, my father and I rebuilt our relationship. Estranged is inspired by our story of battling inner demons to save your family. I chose to submit Estranged because of this and because it taught me to “do it scared.” There were so many mountains we had to scale to make this film happen. I learned so much from this experience and look forward to learning more with each project I work on.
