Echoes of Menchul introduces German ecologist Michel Jacobi, who left urban life in Kiel to settle with his family in the Ukrainian Carpathians. Since 2009, he has cared for water buffalo, Hutsul horses, and ancient cattle breeds, working to preserve biodiversity within a cultural landscape shaped by Hutsul and Boyko communities. Guided by the rhythm of the seasons and the lives of animals, Michel seeks to restore ancient bonds between humans and nature. The film is both a portrait of conservation and a meditation on coexistence, balance, and humanity’s deep connection to the natural world.
