As a first-generation, lower-middle-class minority in a predominantly suburban town, my upbringing was braided in relationships with other outcasts. In my formative adolescent years, my best friends were rebellious, anti-establishment, free-spirited skateboarders who were constantly getting into trouble. While I have lost contact with them in adulthood, most of my works, as well as the films I watch, are about them: misunderstood kids who disrupt the status quo and cuss far too much, who had nowhere to go when the sun went down, and everyone else went home. I chose to find their story, paralleled in another country.
