Haohao Qiaoshi Liu is a Finnish-Chinese writer-director working between New York, Helsinki, and Sydney. Her films bridge narrative and documentary, exploring displacement, memory, and otherness through non-linear storytelling. Her short films EARLY YEARS (2024) and A LITTLE REGRET IN HELSINKI (2025) have screened internationally and were selected in competition at Oscar- and European Film Award-qualifying festivals, including the Tirana International Film Festival, as well as the National Film Festival for Talented Youth and the Beijing International Short Film Festival. In 2024, she was invited to pitch her feature in development concept at the Finnish Film Affair, a leading Nordic industry platform and film market. Her latest experimental short, DISTANT AND KNOWN (2026), continues her exploration of diaspric identity and queerness, through dreamlike imagery and poetic visual language. She graduated cum laude from Columbia University in 2025 with a degree in Film and Media Studies.
