This story is loosely based on my upbringing in New York City and a little bit of my time in undergrad in Atlanta. Throughout the film the kids just want an escape but of course everyone’s trajectory is different. One is spiraling and one is a famous film director but the main character stops everything he is doing to check on his friend and support him. The scene makes you want to talk to your friends more and really check in on them instead of a regular “Hi, how are you?”
