Dear Nǎi Nai is a deeply personal film inspired by my childhood in China with my grandmother. My grandmother shaped my earliest years, teaching me the values I still carry today. I remember her slipping me crystal candies before school, chasing roses I dropped into busy streets, and filling our fridge with my favorite coconut milk. When I moved to America, our bond slowly weakened, and the Chinese language that once felt natural began to fade. Through this film, I hope to highlight the loss of language, identity, and closeness, while honoring the memories that continue to ground our roots.
