The inspiration for Counterpoint grew from navigating two overlapping worlds in Los Angeles. By night, I watched friends in the music industry struggle with fame's volatility and isolation when the spotlight dims. By day, working at Crossroads Elementary, I witnessed children of high-profile individuals navigating complex emotional landscapes behind their parents' public personas.
Counterpoint explores that collision, asking what happens when a woman whose identity is built on being seen is forced to see a child who has lost everything. It examines the counterpoint between celebrity artifice and the raw requirement of caretaking.
