Mrugesh Thakor is a Brooklyn-based writer, director, and editor born in India. His films have screened at CineYouth by Academy Award-qualifying Chicago International Film Festival, Canadian Screen Award-qualifying New York Shorts International Film Festival, the International Film Festival of South Asia Toronto, and others. He holds a BFA in Film from Pratt Institute and is a former Gotham Film & Media Career Development Program fellow and a First Run Fellow.

Growing up between two cultures, he developed a sensitivity to the quiet forces that shape identity. Influenced by filmmakers such as Yasujirō Ozu and Edward Yang, his work combines poetic, observational realism with stillness, intimacy, and emotional restraint, capturing the human condition through layered portraits of people and places.
