Bura is a docu-fiction short film about my brother Nika, a disabled veteran, who has struggled with various addictions since his time serving in Afghanistan. I wanted to make something that portrayed his day-to-day existence, family conflicts, and feeling of isolation as a Georgian living in Cleveland, Ohio with me and our mother. Everyone in the cast plays themselves, and most of the scenes are recreations of events I have witnessed. Note: the film is unfinished, and I intend to have it done by mid-April. I am submitting now because this is the last year I can do so.
