About this Advisor Studio

In Advisor Studio sessions, film and television industry professionals share field experiences and insights into their specific areas of craft, including writing, directing, and producing for TV and film.

You’ve spent years learning how to craft and showcase the perfect story. But what about your voice?

The most successful filmmakers don’t just make great films. They pitch them with conviction, lead their sets with purpose, and hold a room with a presence that’s undeniable and entirely their own. That presence lives in the voice. And it can be learned.

In this live, online session, celebrity voice coach Roger Love will share the secrets behind cultivating a singular voice as a filmmaker. These tips will apply to any industry setting: a film set, a post-screening Q&A, or a pitch meeting. Love is a widely celebrated voice coach whose students have included Joaquin Phoenix, Reese Witherspoon, Zoe Saldaña, Brad Pitt, Keira Knightly, and Bradley Cooper among many others.

Love will lead the session not as a lecture but as a live, interactive session for attendees to test out his strategies.

Topics covered will include:

  • How to pitch your film with the kind of vocal confidence and emotional conviction that makes investors, studios, and audiences lean in and care.
  • A powerful breathing technique that physically connects you to your listener and gives your voice the presence and authority to influence any room.
  • VQ (Vocal Intelligence): The missing skill that matters more to your success as a filmmaker than IQ or EQ, and how to develop it fast.
  • The Three Voices — Chest, Middle, and Head — why most people use only one of them, and how unlocking all three transforms the way you communicate.
  • The sounds of confidence: What they are, how they work, and how to make them your default.
  • How communication is emotion-based, not word-based. The brain processes feeling before it processes language, and once you understand that, everything about how you speak changes.
  • How to eliminate filler words — the ums, uhs, and likes that are quietly destroying your credibility — and replace them with the silence that actually commands attention.
  • Live vocal transformations: Watch real people change the way they sound in real time and learn exactly what shifted and why.

You’ve learned to use so many cinema tools. In this exclusive Sundance Collab session, you’ll learn to develop the one with which you were born: your voice.
