A Circle Is Formed is a film response to the Photographing Britain 80s exhibition and the Tate archive. The film explores photography as an act of protest and as a means of understanding race, class, sex, and ancestry in Britain. Rooted in the African practice of libation, it follows a protagonist guided by her camera and her mother’s voice. Through her journey and practice she connects with her ancestors, those who fought for their stories to be seen and heard. As past and present converge through collective memory, a circle is formed .
