In this film, I explored themes of self-acceptance through unashamed self-expression. I wanted to leave audiences with the message that what others think of you is unimportant as long as your people are there for you. Familial and platonic bonds are the things that keep us grounded, and I wanted to represent that through the eyes of middle schoolers, who haven't fully developed their sense of shame, right and wrong, and foresight and are wired to make different choices than adults. Ultimately, I was captivated by finding the comedy in difficult childhood stories and wanted to explore that.
