Reem Jubran is a young Palestinian-American filmmaker who grew up shooting film photography and transitioned to narrative filmmaking during her undergraduate studies in film at University of California, Berkeley. She spent the past two years working as Assistant Director on a variety of Palestinian film productions and learned side by side from most important names in Palestinian cinema, namely, Elia Suleiman and Annemarie Jacir. Reem worked on her own short films in between. Reem is a first-year MFA Directing student at UCLA, and through her work she aspires to redirect the spotlight on the unheard, unaccepted, and loud Arab woman’s voice through her own interpretation and to work towards creating the currently inexistent bridge between American and Arab cinema.
