Rebecca Shuhan Lou was born and raised in Beijing, China. She holds a BBA in Global Business and Finance from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and recently earned an MFA in Producing from the American Film Institute. She thrives on creative collaboration and enjoys working with young talented filmmakers from diverse backgrounds. Over the past two years, she has produced ten short films. Of the ten,“You Win USA Vacation Resort,” an AFI Directing Workshop for Women project, screened at The Directors Guild of America and “Our Way Home” premiered at Oscar-Qualifying, Hollyshorts Film Festival. “Our Way Home” was also selected to screen at the Women in Film Shorts Night. She worked at the American Film Market in 2017 and 2018 with sales and distribution companies, including Embankment Films and Epic Pictures. She also worked as a development intern at Mike Medavoy’s Phoenix Pictures, Joel Silver’s Silver Pictures, management company Epicenter, as well as Cristal Pictures, a China-US Co-Production Company. She co-wrote the feature script Her Weight On Me, which centers around a Chinese-American teenager crumbling under her parents’ toxic love and traditional values, a downward spiral that also leads to her first taste of sexual freedom. Her Weight on Me was a Nicholl Fellowship semi-finalist and a finalist in the BlueCat Screenplay Competition. Rebecca’s love for storytelling, endless quest for excellence, and desire to inspire a wider audience brought her to the US to pursue filmmaking.
