Matthew is a writer whose New Zealand Film Commission funded short films have played at over 100 International Film Festivals from Tribeca to Palm Springs, and won over 40 awards, including the biggest international audience award for short film, the 'Prix du Public' at the 2016 Clermont-Ferrand Festival in France and 'Best Short' at the 2017 New Zealand Film Awards (Moas). They have also screened on major media networks such as HBO, Sky, AMC & Canal+. His film Madam Black has been described by Laurent Crouzeix in Cineuropa as the international “festival hit of the year”, and the Sky Rialto Channel NZ Film Awards described it as a “globally acclaimed short” on a “historic awards run”.
