Liz Smith’s work focuses on using media to create measurable impact and systemic change. She is the former Director & COO of Conservation Media Group, where she developed grant programs for impact filmmaking and designed the Catalyst Workshops to train activists and filmmakers in more effectively using media for change. As a communications director aboard research vessels around the world, she’s explored 2,000-year-old shipwrecks, searched for Amelia Earhart, and worked with Dr. Robert Ballard to bring live deep-sea exploration into STEM classrooms. She has been an Astrophysics TV Producer at NASA and a Fulbright Specialist in science communications, and her short films have won numerous awards at festivals nationwide. She holds an MFA in Science and Natural History Filmmaking and a BA in Astronomy.
