Kate E. Hinshaw

Kate E. Hinshaw is a filmmaker and visual story teller who hand paints and distresses 8mm and 16mm film. Through the tactile manipulation and destruction of celluloid, her work depicts internalized conflicts of memory and nostalgia. Commercially, she has worked with musicians to create unique music videos and live projection pieces which have been featured in Immersive ATL, Creative Loafing Atlanta, and AfroPunk. She is currently pursuing an MFA in Film at the University of Colorado at Boulder, developed by the experimental filmmaker Stan Brakhage. Previously, she has worked as a camera assistant on set and served as film coordinator to LadyFest Atlanta.
