I have spent my life around stories — first as a journalist, then an editor at Doubleday, a literary agent for books, a publishing entrepreneur, a ghost writer, nonfiction author and novelist. Among other things, I am author of the Bomb Squad NYC series of police thrillers (shopping agreement for television with an independent producer) and of a financial thriller entitled THE DARK POOL. Most of my creative work explores, directly or indirectly, the lives of characters caught between two worlds or two identities. For example, the mystery novel CADAVER BLUES features a wisecracking accidental detective named Phuoc Goldberg, who was born in Vietnam but adopted as an infant by Jewish socialists. The protagonist of the environmental thriller PRIMACY works as a tech in an animal testing lab but struggles to bury her compassion for her subjects and get on with her job. The lead character of my horror novel (and screenplay), THE PRISONER OF HELL GATE, discovers her true self only by resisting her sexist boyfriend, her overbearing father and her family history — with gruesome consequences. In all, I have written eight novels and three works of nonfiction. A few years ago, I turned my attention intensively to screen and television work.
