A former ballerina, published fiction author and sometimes film instructor at the University of Notre Dame, I am a proud alumnus of AFI’s Directing Workshop for Women and invited participant to the 2017 inaugural AFI/Fox Studios Bridge program. My darkly comedic/horror screenplays have placed in such competitions as the Nicholl Fellowships, Slamdance and PAGE Awards, and my films have screened at over 500 festivals worldwide, garnering awards, distribution and critical acclaim. When I'm not writing and making films, I chase monkeys around the world with my anthropologist partner. I'm also the co-founder of the newly launched feminist cinema blog, Beyond the Bechdel ( As for career goals, I aim to bring to life several of my award-winning features, starting with GIRL TROUBLE, a Trump-era horror, the screenplay for which I developed in the Nostos Screenwriting Retreat in Tuscany, and BRIDE OF FRANKIE, a feminist take on the Frankenstein story for which my proof-of-concept short is just finishing a robust festival run.
