Benjamin Cantu

Benjamin Cantu is a writer, director and creative producer born in 1978 in Budapest, currently based in both Berlin and Budapest. After studying animation at the Filmuniversität Babelsberg, he switched to directing studies at Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin (DFFB), where he received his diploma in 2010. His previous works include 2011’s STADT LAND FLUSS, screened at the Berlinale in Generation 14plus, along with numerous TV documentaries (BECAUSE OF WHO I AM, 2015) and TV shows (JUST PUSH ABUBA, 2018). Benjamin is an alumnus of the Torino Film Lab and participant of EAVE Producers Workshop, as well as a fellow of the Salzburg Global LGBT Forum. In 2015 Benjamin was part of the Medienboard Artist-in- Residence programme Berlin-Tel Aviv, and in 2017 he was member of the international jury at Generation 14Plus during the 67th Berlinale.
