I studied Screenplay Writing & Film Direction at Film & Television Institute of India and am a practicing filmmaker in Mumbai since 1995. I worked as Associate Producer and Fixer on documentaries for BBC, Channel 4, Al Jazeera, Arte, CBC, NatGeo, YLE & VPRO from 1995-2012. I have directed & edited an indie documentary feature, 150 SECONDS AGO in 2002. The film has screened at prestigious festivals like Cinema Du Reel & Yamagata IDFF. I wrote, directed and produced a children’s feature LILKEE for Children’s Film Society, India in 2007. My second children’s feature KAPHAL won the Golden Lotus National Award for Best Children’s Film 2014 & the Golden Elephant for Best Director at International Children’s Film Festival India 2013. It has screened at festivals like MAMI, Goteborg IFF, Zlin IFFCY, Busan IKFF, Chicago South Asian FF & Saga Stockholm Women’s IFF. Both LILKEE and KAPHAL continue to be shown in schools, children’s festivals and television. I have served on the National Award Jury in 2015 and works on several juries and selection committees for FTII, NID, Films Division, IDPA, Kashish, Toto Fund for Arts and MAMI Half-Ticket amongst others. 
I mentor young filmmakers in documentary and screenplay writing through institutions like the National Institute of Design and the Film and Television Institute of India. I write short stories and blog about films and books.
